Spinfinity's Math Creatures

I asked my students to imagine Math as a person or living being — and to draw it, name it, and ask it whatever they wanted.

These math creatures were made by bold, brilliant girls aged 9–14 at an orphanage where the math trauma is almost generational — and by 4th standard students at a government school.

Learning math is an incredibly emotional experience. In our education system, being good at math means you are smart, and being bad at math means you're not. Over time, these labels shape how children see themselves.

Spinfinity is about breaking out of these labels, and exploring math through the body. We use hula hoops as a tool to play and spin math concepts.
